The best reuse of ‘big data’ or anaytics of multiple data sources. Entries may present insights developed through the use of ‘big data, demonstrate data science capabilities, help others to data mine and understand data from multiple sources; or model data to support informed decisions with changing variables.

Blood stream infections are a major cause of death worldwide with a mortality rate of 30%. Blood cultures are the most important tool for their diagnosis and as such the data on blood culture testing unlocks the details of who, what and where the infections are occuring. The data set we have access to for GovHack makes up 90% of all blood cultures in Western Australia. The goal of this project is to map out the incidence of bloodstream infections in Western Australia and regional breakdowns using the blood culture data and ABS statistics.

iHero

Our project ''iHero" is a web application that uses facial recognition to search Australian service photos across various conflicts as captured by the State Library of Western Australia,  Australian War Memorial, National Archives of Australia and the State Library of Queensland.

To use iHero, you upload a photo to do your search. The application will then use facial analytics to determine which photos from the various libraries match yours.

Career Move is an interactive website that tracks and compare’s regions based on the economic performance over time of 19 Australian industry sectors.  It allows early indication of performance trends and is intended as a decision-making aid for international and local investors and people considering relocation.  It provides information on investment options and an investment opportunity and warning system as sectors grow and shrink.
