For the best hack that uses Wilsons Prom data. The Prom is one of Victoria’s most-loved places. At the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, it offers spectacular scenery of huge granite mountains, open forest, rainforest, sweeping beaches and coastlines. Parks Victoria have a large amount of data and digital assets on the Prom that could enhance the experience of visitors. Perhaps an interactive experience for visitors Wilsons Prom or other ways to engages people in nature tourism?

Nominate the Theme in the entry is competing in. Use at least two data sets (at least one must be Victoria government data with a strong preference for multipliable Victorian government datasets from different departments and agencies.) Other openly licensed data may be used.

Campsites Tonight

Campsites Tonight is a convenient tool that allows Campers of Victoria a quick and easy way to find and book available campsites near them. 

Using the geo location of the user Campsites Tonight pulls the data of Vic Parks Campsites to find Available Campsites and sort them by distance. 

The booking portal is an easy 3 step process that provides an at-a-glance over view of the features of the Campsite, payment processing and booking confirmation. 

Get Parked

Get parked is an informative, easy to use interface that connects everyday individuals to the amazing experiences and getaways right in their backyard. Country Victoria has a vast number of parks and sites open to public use, however there is no easy way to find information on these sites and hence can be intimidating for those that are not bush savvy, to plan a bush/outdoor weekend outing.

Find My Toilet

An app allowing users to find their closest public amenity (toilets, shower, drinking water), provide feedback rating of the facility and inform the body responsible for the amenity if maintenance is required. By recording the location of users when they indicate they need a facility and providing access to this new dataset to councils and town planners via both an API and a heatmap, it is easy for them to visualise where new amenities are most needed.

Parks Finder

Parks Finder is an app to make Victorian Parks more accessible to Victorians. It uses map data from Parks Vic, transport data from PTV, and Google's Machine Vision API.



Park Finder lists walking trails throughout Victoria. It uses the PTV transport API to fetch nearest buses to the trails. It uses the Google Machine Vision API to detect landmarks and fauna in photos users upload while on the trail. The data includes certain fauna found on the trail (eg seals, bandicoots, etc).

It also puts you in touch with a local who can give you a guide at a competitive cost.
