The Problem

•       Parents get paranoid when their children do not reach home on time, find out their children are not where they should be…Imagine the stress especially where both parents are working and they discover that their kid is missing or hasn’t reached school or home in time. Also common are the cases of kids getting lost in public places even when parents are around.

The Solution

Safety Tracker

Team Name:
DataGen

A solution to address inability of inebriated persons (especially teens) to return home safely. Mobile app enabled solution. Proof of concept and conceptualisation via Comic Book format and video.

The app user has to set a time of expected return at which the app automatically sends a message to an emergency contact when a person is beyond their time limit. In such a case, the reciever should Call and Confirm about the user's safety.

Our project, WalkSafe, is designed to make local travel on foot or on wheels much safer.

It utilises locational crime data sets to create an underlying heat map of crime and uses that map to decide on the safest and quickest route to your destination.

This idea can easily be taken further by obtaining more specific crime data such as the type of crime, which street the crime was committed on, and who it was committed against (which demographic).

Databases are boring, especially when you want to learn about how interesting our local history is using pictures and portraits.

Keeping children interested helps improve educational outcomes.

Historycal Picture Viewer aims to make learning about local history more interesting, by asking interesting questions and finding the resulting stories.

Using State Library of South Australia and National Portrait data, our proof of concept aims to provide a visual, easy to use fun way for children and students to learn about our past.
