Focus on skin cancer in australia through protective clothing
The Department of Environment and Heritage Protection provide a feed of Air Quality sensors across Brisbane, but it takes a fair bit of effort to go look at this every day before you leave home.
This information is particularily relevant to people with sinusitis, allergies or are asthmatic as knowing how bad the air quality is means you can adjust your daily routine to cope, including taking an anti-histamine.
The idea was to develop a mobile app to assist in discovering the hidden gems within a local council or city area.
Much like how the new Pokemon GO game has stops that you can check in at that correlate to real life places, the Discovery Your City app would include historically and culturally significant locations within the the specified area. Additionally, it would have provision for residents to submit their own hidden gems to be added to the program, such as great restaurants or social gathering places.
This project remixes QLD Museum Ecosciences 3D models of Fossils - Ammonites and Muttaburrasaurus - for 3D printing for use in educational projects, jewelry and crafts.
I am crew for the Brisbane Maker Node so I am not eligible for local prizes.
I edited and 3D printed these models for my own amusement during quiet times at GovHack and made beads, light up jewelry and brush bots.
Muttaburratorus is a remix of a torus + muttaburrasaurus skull for use in jewelry.
