The Steamer Porthole - http://paddlesteamers.kyliesgenes.com/
As history researchers we have found information about the steamer captains and their
boats difficult to find. As this is an important part of South Australian pioneer history
we wanted to make a portal which helps solve this problem.

From the portal:
Travel the River Murray virtually, from your home, or go out and explore the places
and routes our river pioneers travelled.

This portal brings together paddle steamer information from a variety of sources. Here
you can locate museums, events, exhibitions and paddle steamer wreck locations. There
is information on numerous South Australian, historical paddle steamers and their
Captains such as Captain William Richard Randall and Captain Pearl Wallace.

Portal Expansion
Above is our proof of concept. Going on we will be working on our portal adding more
paddle steamer photos, events, map markers, Trove articles, books and biographies of
steamer captains.
Another feature we would like to add is to have a mobile phone app which travellers can
use when they arrive in a holiday location and would like to visit locations with paddle
steamer significance.
