Overcrowding in Auckland

Map of overcrowding in Auckland
Team Name:
Overpeopled

Overcrowding in the Auckland Region is a hotly debated topic but currently no tool exists that helps visualise associated data or metrics. It is common knowledge that 'distribution of overcrowding' is not homogeneous and thus our tool attempts to answers the following questions:

- How overcrowded are Auckland neighbourhoods?
- Where are the hotspots of overcrowding?
- Is there a relationship with increasing rents?

Data journalism over a weekend can only scratch the surface, however by visualising this data we can communicate a sense of scale and raise further questions for investigation.
